Electroslag refining furnace is a kind of special smelting equipment which uses the heat generated by the remelting current to melt the consumable electrode inserted into the slag pool. After the metal melt drops are cleaned by the slag liquid, they crystallize into electroslag ingots in the water-cooled crystallizer.
Electroslag remelting is a method of smelting by using the resistance heat generated when the current passes through the slag as a heat source. Its main purpose is to purify metal and obtain steel ingot with uniform and dense crystalline structure. The electroslag remelted steel has high purity, very low sulfur content, fine dispersion of nonmetallic inclusions, smooth surface of ingot, uniform and dense crystallization, no white spots and annual ring segregation, uniform microstructure and chemical composition. The as-cast mechanical properties of electroslag steel can reach or exceed the index of the same steel forging. Therefore, electroslag remelting in large and medium-sized forgings, module blank production in a monopoly position, in the tool steel, maraging steel, two-phase steel billet, cold rolling roll electroslag steel has an advantage, electroslag melting casting shaped parts have a unique, in China's electroslag steel annual output has reached hundreds of thousands of tons. Electroslag metallurgy has three basic functions: heating, refining and sequential crystallization.
According to the form of support arm and ingot car, the electroslag furnace can be divided into: single-arm single ingot model, single-arm double ingot model, double-arm ingot alternating type, double-arm rotating alternating fixed type, double-arm rotating alternating pumping type.
